Dear Mom and Dad,
I hope all is fine back in Britain and you are all safe.
As you probably already know, we beat the Americans! The battle in Crysler’s farm was big. It was a total of 900 of us Redcoats against 2000 of the Americans. The odds seemed impossible for us, but we held firm. Finally, after many people were injured on both sides, after many cannons were fired, after it seemed like all my strength was gone, the Americans retreated!
I didn’t have much time to celebrate our victory, because I got wounded in my left arm. Don’t worry though, I am almost as good as new, but I can’t say the same for Matt.
Matt is here with me, but he has lost his right leg and his left hand. He is also deaf in one ear. I’m just thankful we are both alive. I decided to stay with him until he heals, I’m not leaving without my younger brother.
The peace treaty was signed and we should be coming home soon, but because of our injuries, it might take longer than I thought. There is a hope that we can come a week after New Year, though. I can’t wait to see you all again! Make sure little Abbey stays out of trouble and tell her I said “Hi”!
